DESIGN STORY

It all started with an idea, a quest to create something beautiful of something as simple as a piece of paper. Thus, and exploration of this medium began where the result ended up in waxing the paper, creating an almost see-through surface. By then shaping the paper it creates these cracks in the surface of the wax, visualizing an almost vain like structure… a defining element of the creations of C.L Ståle.

The lamps of C.L Ståle are all made by hand, creating a uniquely shaped item for each customer. The material of the shades derives from sustainably harvested Swedish woods which are then turned into pulp and paper in the western part of the country. The wax is made from Swedish grown rape-seed which is then heated to a liquid form to be able to saturate the paper. After the shades are formed they are combined with a metal canopy, a textile cable and a porcelain lampholder, all made in Italy for a fully sustainable product, sourced from within the EU.

From my point of view, it’s no use in doing anything if you aren’t going to compete with the best, that’s my ambition, to be the best at what I do. My inspiration is to make the future seem real through models, animations, movies, and storytelling. To make products desirable, to make people want things and feel good using them and at the same time make these products have a minimal impact on the planet.
